The Alors on Danse Meme: Song, Sketch and AI Trend Explained
Where the Alors on Danse meme comes from: the Stromae song, the white-studio sketch with the mini keyboard, and why AI versions took over feeds.

If your feed suddenly filled up with pairs of people in a blank white room, one tapping a tiny keyboard and the other pointing at a laptop before lunging at the camera, you have met the Alors on Danse meme. Here is what it is and why it is everywhere.
The song
"Alors on danse" ("So we dance") is the 2009 breakout single by the Belgian artist Stromae. Its hypnotic beat and deadpan French lyrics made it a hit across Europe in 2010, and it has stayed a dance floor staple ever since.
The sketch
The visual comes from a comedy sketch with Jamel Debbouze that plays out a tongue-in-cheek version of how the song was made: Stromae works out the beat on a mini keyboard plugged into a laptop, while Jamel points at the screen, dances and gets much too close to the camera. The white backdrop and the two very different energies are what made it meme material.
The AI trend
AI video models can now re-stage a reference scene with new faces. Fans started feeding the sketch's staging and two photos into those models, and the "Alors on Danse AI" trend was born. The format is always the same:
- On the keys: one person plays the beat, serious and focused.
- The partner: the other points, nods, dances along.
- The lean-in: on the drop, the partner walks up to the lens for an extreme close-up.
Why it works
It is instantly recognizable, it only needs two people, and the roles create a built-in joke: the calm one and the chaotic one. Pairing unexpected people (a couple, coworkers, the same person twice) is what keeps it fresh.
