The trend

The Alors on Danse trend, explained

One white studio, one mini keyboard, two people and a beat everyone knows. Here is where the meme comes from, how the 30-second format works, and how people remix it with AI.

Where it comes from

"Alors on danse" ("So we dance") is the 2009 breakout single of the Belgian artist Stromae, a hit across Europe in 2010. A comedy sketch with Jamel Debbouze plays out a tongue-in-cheek version of how the song was made: Stromae taps at a tiny keyboard in front of a laptop while Jamel points at the screen and gets far too excited.

That staging (seamless white backdrop, small table, laptop, mini keyboard, one deadpan player and one hype partner) is what the AI trend copies. People swap themselves and their friends into the two roles and post the result on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

The original sketch on YouTube, shared by Jamel TV. Embedded for reference; not made with this site.

The format, beat by beat

  1. 1 · 0-8 s

    On the keys

The left performer taps out the beat on a mini keyboard plugged into a laptop. Deadpan, focused, very serious about it.

  2. 2 · 8-21 s

    The partner joins in

The right performer points at the screen, nods along and starts to dance beside the table, hyping the beat.

  3. 3 · 21-25 s

    The lean-in

On the drop, the partner walks straight up to the camera and leans into the lens for the close-up everyone remembers.

  4. 4 · 25-30 s

    The walk-off

Both performers turn and walk away across the white studio, leaving the keyboard behind. The 20-second version ends on the lean-in instead.

Ways to remix it

You and your best friend

The classic. Give the quieter one the keyboard and the louder one the lean-in.

Couples

One plays, one hypes. Contrasting outfits make the pairing read instantly.

Me and me

The same person twice: a casual photo on the keys, a dressed-up one as the partner.

Team moments

A willing coworker, a teammate, a sibling. Agree on the photos before you post.

Only use photos of yourself or adults who agreed to take part, label the result as AI-generated, and never present it as a real recording of the people shown.
